During the University of Florida’s unforgettable 2025 men’s basketball championship run, master’s student Hanna Lewis exemplified the power of UF’s Sports Performance and Analytics program. Working as an athletics intern, Lewis applied wearable technology, AI, and custom-built data dashboards to track and visualize athlete performance. Her tools helped identify trends in fatigue, effort, and recovery—critical insights that supported the coaching staff’s training and game-day decisions.

Lewis’s role was central to the Gators’ ability to sustain peak performance deep into March Madness. Her success highlights the impact of UF’s interdisciplinary approach to performance science, where graduate students like Lewis gain real-world experience that shapes both championship teams and the future of sports analytics. Inspired by the season, she plans to continue innovating in the field, aiming to build smarter, more accessible tools for athletes and teams at every level.
