AI-Powered Athletics
Part of the UF & Sport Collaborative
AI-Powered Athletics is a collaboration between the Herbert Wertheim College of Engineering and the University Athletic Association as part of the UF & Sport Collaborative.
The project leverages an extensive dataset — spanning 21 teams, more than 500 student-athletes, and over 1 trillion data points — to efficiently generate advanced insights and inform decisions that may help reduce time-loss injuries, support the health and well-being of student-athletes, and optimize individual and team performance.
Potential Impact:
- Education: Provide novel data and case studies to undergraduate and graduate students in AI-related classes at UF, local and international data science competitions, and workshops in AI-related conferences
- Athletics: Benefit team performance and student-athlete health and well-being.
- Research: Develop new scientific approaches to monitoring health and well-being of individuals, tracking team performance in diverse settings, and advancing wearable sensor technologies.
