Spencer Thomas

Director of Sports Performance & Analytics


Spencer Thomas enters his first year as director and fourth year in the Sports Performance and Analytics Division within the UAA Sports Health and Performance Department during the 2024–2025 academic year. Previously working as an Athletic Trainer for various teams at UF since 2006, Thomas leads a new role focused on performance optimization, injury risk and reduction, and holistic development with the various disciplines within the Sports Health & Performance Department. In addition to working with numerous Olympic sports on campus, Thomas has collaborations with the Herbert Wertheim College of Engineering and College of Health and Human Performance, where he is one of the representatives for the UAA, and Program Director and Intern Clinical Coordinator for the Sports Performance and Analytics internship respectively.

Thomas, a graduate of the University of Connecticut (’05) earned a B.S. in athletic training and an M.S. in Athletic Training at the University of Florida (’10).

Thomas is a member of the National Athletic Training Association, College Athletic Trainers Association, National Strength and Conditioning Association, and National Academy of Sports Medicine. A native of Connecticut, Thomas enjoys exercise, spending time with family, traveling, and home projects.
