Zach Smith

Data Management Analyst


Zach Smith is a Certified Performance and Sport Scientist (CPSS) with a strong background in sports performance and data analysis. Currently, he serves as a Data Management Analyst on the AI-Powered Athletics project, working closely with both athletic and academic teams to optimize athletic performance and promote student-athlete research. Zach leverages data to help coaches make informed decisions and plays a key role in developing the UF Athletics Databank, a comprehensive resource for ongoing and future performance studies.

Prior to UF, Zach worked as a Sports Performance Fellow with Sporting Kansas City, helping athletes from the academy to professional level optimize their overall performance and development. He also contributed to data collection and analysis to support decision-making within the technical staff and improve team performance.

During his master’s at the University of Indianapolis, Zach worked with the men’s soccer team, where his efforts not only enhanced team performance but also contributed to research on load monitoring. His experience as a collegiate athlete shaped his perspective on student-athlete development, fueling his passion for optimizing both athletic performance and overall well-being. Zach is also a Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist (CSCS), which further enriches his expertise in training and performance.
